Thank You Note

I needed a thank you note for a friend who let us stay at their home over the holidays. My friend has a passion for antique doors and her husband is a gardener who is growing lemon trees on his patio, so I was trying to find a way to incorporate a door and lemons in the card. Here is what I came up with - I used a SVG cut file from SVGcuts - Fairy Cottage Gate Card. The stamps inside are from Penny Blacks "Bubbly" and "Heartfelt" stamp sets (colored with alcohol inks). The paper is "Oh My Lemony" from Paper Studio. I used my Cricut Maker to cut the files. I'm pretty happy with the results except for the front. I feel like it needs something but I can't figure out what, so I just quit!

Christmas Crafts

Christmas is a fun time for paper crafts! Here are some of my creations this month. Most of these were made using the new Cricut Maker:

Love this Christmas Paper!

I've been making cards from paper that I got from the local hobby store. I used the Triple Window die for the bottom one and Lawn Fawn stamps for the top. I colored with alcohol inks.

Edwards Christmas Village

I have to brag on my brother, David Edwards, and his wife, June. They live in Lewes, Delaware, and put on a very nice Christmas Village celebration FREE to the community. All they ask for is a donation for the local food ministry - Jusst Sooup. I am so proud of these two! Here are some photos from this year:

Halloween cards today...

This first one (pup card) was done with alcohol markers on the dog and pumpkin; I used Washi tape for the pumpkin borders.

This card was cut on my Cricut maker using a free file from BIRDsvgs - I love the scrollwork and the  Maker did a terrific job!

Cricut Maker Day 2

Today, I made a card from an idea I got from Online Card Classes, Day 4. The class uses a background die for this intricate cut, but I didn't have one and it was way too expensive for me to purchase. So, I got on the internet and found an SVG I Christmas Tree background from Miss Kate Cuttables. I uploaded it to Cricut Design Studio and cut it out with my Cricut Maker. It worked like a dream! I used very cheap card stock from a Michael's ($8.00 for 40 sheets). When I was using my silhouette, I couldn't cut with this cheap paper. However, not only did the Cricut Maker cut the paper, but it did it so well that I also have a dish of tiny Christmas trees "glitter" to use in a shaker card!

Here's the final card front. The ribbon opens and Santa opens to reveal an inner white, top-fold card.

The inner card is where you sign your name.

And here are my leftovers ("glitter") - the penny shows you how small these are! The Maker did an awesome job!

Cricut Maker - Day 1!

My Cricut Maker just arrived!! I've unboxed it and already made the sample card and cut out a star from a piece of very thick burlap. LOVE IT! It cuts extremely well and it's quiet!

Alcohol Inks

I just finished this card done with Heartfelt stamps and alcohol inks. I added a small magnet on the front to keep it closed.

I said I wouldn't but I did . . .

I told everyone around me that I WAS NOT going to be purchasing the new Cricut Maker. After all, I just purchased the Cricut Explore Air 2 last Christmas. But, I got on HSN and watched Anna Griffin talk about all the fun things it can do, extra bonus products that came with the AG machine, and the easy (no interest) payment plans, and what did I do? I bought one!

Yes, and it is supposed to arrive on Monday. So, this weekend, I moved everything around on my desk so that I can fit in my new Cricut Maker. Then, I brought out my old Memory Craft 7000 which had been stuffed in my closet for the past five years, and got out an old iPad to use with my Cricut Maker. After it arrives and I have it all set up, I will add a photo of my setup.

Pumpkin Time!

This week, I decided to make the pumpkins from Dreaming Tree files. They turned out so cute! For two of them, I used mini lights; the other one has "jewels" where the lights should be.

More of My Cards

I guess this blog is beginning to be nothing more than a showcase for my crafting - LOL! Here is some cards I made in the last week or two.

This is a Heartfelt die (Rose); paper is from Hobby Lobby.

Gina K Stamp and Die; Can't remember where I got paper.

This is a SVG file for a step card, die is Heartfelt; paper is Hobby Lobby.

Crafting Again

I finally got my daughter moved and Hurricane Harvey is mostly over (at least for us), so I managed to do some card making this week. I just purchased a new set of stamps and dies from Gina K called Boho Flowers. Here are two cards I made with it so far:

Hurricane Harvey

Good news - bad news - good news! My daughter, Shelly, moved to Galveston, TX, to take a teaching post with Galveston College. Although I am going to miss her terribly, this is a super good move for her. The bad news is that the week after she moved in, Hurricane Harvey hit! We spent several days worrying about her. But, after it's all over, she was one of the lucky ones and was not affected by the hurricane.

Day trip with Bill and Oreo

Yesterday, I spent the day traveling to OKC to take Bill to Dean McGee Eye Institute. While he got his checkup, Oreo and I went to Hafer Park in Edmond. I LOVE this park!

Taking a rest after a brisk walk.

Checking out the ducks!
After the park, we went to my favorite scrapbooking store in Edmond, Paper Arts. Got some new paper and glitter glue.

Next, we picked up Bill and all went to 1910 Restaurant for lunch. All in all, a great day with beautiful weather.

Mojo Monday Card Sketch Challenge #485

Trying something new this evening. I saw this Mojo Monday Card Sketch Challenge #485 online and thought I'd give it a try. Here is my result:

Here is the sketch we were to use for our idea:
The stars gave me the idea to do something for soldiers. The paper I used was Paper Studio's Proud to Serve paper pack. "This is me missing you," is me saying that you are all I can think of, even when I am crafting.
